Hemp is a plant that has been used in everyday life since ancient times and not only in the way you might think. Ropes, clothes and other household items were made from hemp.
Russian scientists decided to use the wisdom of their ancestors and developed a “recipe” for the production of new concrete. Employees of Vladimir State University have created “light” concrete.
The main novelty is the hemp-based filler. This material is a waste of industrial hemp processing. The fire is not eaten by mice, but at the same time it is half the price of the “classic” arbolite filler and is more environmentally friendly. In addition to price attractiveness, concrete in the composition with hemp has increased thermal insulation.
Moreover, this is not a concept, but a technology that is already being used in practice. Such building material was used in the construction of an apartment building in Murom.
It is expected that the Vladimir region will become a production center for the production of such concrete. The developers have already received an offer from investors for 800 million rubles. Under the expansion of production, they plan to plant 500 hectares of hemp, in the future the plantations will increase several times.
